How Citi statements are structured
Citibank statements frequently arrive as a combined document: one PDF that covers your checking account and any linked savings or money market accounts, each introduced by its own account summary with beginning and ending balances. Within each account's detail, activity is broken into labeled sections — deposits, ATM and debit withdrawals, checks paid, fees — with amounts shown in a single column whose sign depends on the section the row falls in. Citi prints the masked account number at the head of each account's section, which is what makes reliable splitting possible. Our engine detects those account headers, splits the file into one logical statement per account, and then assigns debits and credits from the section a row belongs to rather than from column position alone. Each extracted account is reconciled independently: beginning balance plus its transactions must equal the ending balance printed in that account's summary, and if it does not, we flag that account specifically and say by how much. When you download your file, each account comes out as its own cleanly separated set of rows, ready to import without any manual untangling.
What Citi gives you natively
Citi lets you download recent account activity as CSV or for Quicken/QuickBooks, typically limited to roughly the last 90 days. Past that window, statements are PDF-only — and Citi's combined PDFs bundle linked accounts into one file, with no native per-account Excel export as of this writing.
Step by step
- Sign in at citi.com and select the account, or the combined statement that covers it.
- Open Accounts → Statements & documents and choose the statement month.
- Download the PDF to your computer.
- Upload the PDF — if it covers multiple accounts, we split them automatically.
- Choose CSV, Excel, or QBO and download the converted file.
Citi conversion FAQ
My Citi statement PDF includes both checking and savings. Will they be split?
Yes. Citi's combined statements introduce each account with its own summary and masked account number, and we split the file there. Each account is parsed and reconciled separately, so you get one clean output per account with no rows mixed across them.
Does Citi offer a CSV download?
Citi lets you download recent activity as CSV or for Quicken and QuickBooks, but the window is typically limited to about the last 90 days. Older periods are PDF-only, which is where conversion comes in — upload the PDF and pick your format.
How far back can I pull Citi statements?
Citi generally keeps online statements available for several years for most deposit accounts, all as PDFs. Each converts here, and reconciliation runs per account against the ending balance printed in that account's own summary.
Does it work with Citi business checking statements?
Yes. Citi business statements use the same sectioned layout — deposits, withdrawals, checks, fees — and are split per account the same way when several accounts share one file. Any section that fails to reconcile is flagged with the account and amount involved.
