Terms of Service

Effective date: July 25, 2026

Welcome to ReconCSV. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of reconcsv.com and the ReconCSV bank-statement converter (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

One architectural fact shapes everything below: the standard converter parses your PDFs locally in your browser. Your statement files are never uploaded to our servers, so most risks that come with uploading financial documents to a website simply do not apply here.

1. The Service

ReconCSV converts bank-statement PDFs into CSV, Excel, and QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect) files, and reconciles extracted transactions against statement balances. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every PDF layout will parse perfectly.

2. Accuracy disclaimer — verify before you rely

This is the most important section of these Terms.

ReconCSV reconciles the data it extracts and flags discrepancies — for example, when extracted transactions do not add up to the statement's closing balance. That is a verification aid, not a guarantee. PDF statements vary widely in layout, and no automated extraction is infallible.

You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the output before relying on it for accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, loan applications, audits, or any other purpose. ReconCSV is a data-conversion tool, not an accounting, tax, or legal service, and its output is not professional advice. If the numbers matter — and they usually do — check them against the original statement.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for statements you have the right to possess and process. You agree to:

  • Convert only bank statements that are yours, or that you are authorized to handle (for example, as an accountant or bookkeeper acting for a client).
  • Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, identity theft, money laundering, or the processing of documents obtained without authorization.
  • Not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or abuse the Service, its infrastructure, or its free-tier limits.

Because the standard converter runs in your browser, your documents stay under your control — which also means responsibility for lawful use rests with you.

4. Free tier

The free tier allows conversion of up to 3 pages per day, with no account required. The daily counter is stored in your own browser (see our Privacy Policy). We may adjust free-tier limits in the future; the limit in effect is the one shown in the product.

5. Paid plans (planned)

We plan to offer paid subscriptions for higher limits and additional features. When they launch:

  • Billing is handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment and appears on your statement; we never see or store your card number. Paddle's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment transaction.
  • Cancel anytime. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: if you are not satisfied, contact us within 7 days of a charge and we will refund it.
  • Prices and plan details will be published on the pricing page before any charge is possible.

6. Intellectual property

The Service — its software, extraction engine, design, and content — is owned by ReconCSV and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose.

Your documents are yours. You retain all rights to your statements and the files you export. For the standard converter, we never receive them at all. We claim no rights over your data or output.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • ReconCSV and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, arising from or related to your use of the Service.
  • This includes, without limitation, damages arising from reliance on converted output that you did not independently verify (see Section 2).
  • Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or fifty US dollars (US $50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent the law permits.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ReconCSV and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right — including processing documents you were not authorized to possess.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
